Memoria Foundation
On December 6, 1989, fourteen young women were murdered at Montréal’s École polytechnique. Alfred Dallaire Funeral Homes was mandated to handle their funerals. Less than a year later, Jocelyne Dallaire Légaré created a fund with the money received from them: the Fonds commémoratif pour les femmes en génie de la Fondation Alfred Dallaire (Women Engineering Students’ Memorial Fund). In 2003, it was renamed the Memoria Foundation. Since its creation, the Foundation has granted over twenty awards.
