Over the decades, some funeral rites have changed. Whether through small deviations in traditional rituals or other specific adaptations, we are here to support and guide families.

In the past, the body was displayed in the living room of the family home. Nowadays, it is displayed in the funeral home. The viewing often lasts an afternoon and an evening, to give the family time to mourn. The next morning, the procession with the family heads to the church for a mass lasting about 1 hour. When the mass is over, the procession finally leaves for the burial site.

Where can a coffin be buried?

The place where our loved one is going to rest is very important and significant. It's important to know how to choose it, depending on the deceased's beliefs and personal wishes. Very often, we want to find a peaceful and serene place, close to our home, that respects our religious and/or personal beliefs and preferences.

Cemetery

A natural resting place, where the coffin is buried underground. A gravestone or a plaque engraved with the name and years can be placed in the ground in memory of the person.

Inner mausoleum

A more intimate and elegant option for burial of the coffin in a crypt, designed to optimize preservation of the body. Visits are possible 365 days a year. A marble plaque is placed and sealed on the coffin. It is engraved with the name and the years, a lamp lit in memory of your loved one, his or her photo on ceramic and a vase for artificial flowers. Easily personalized, you can affix photos, a card or other memento to the plaque covering the crypt.

We often meet people with very traditional funeral preferences, and we are committed to honoring these choices with the utmost diligence and respect.

What are the advantages of buying a resting place with a prearragement?

You should know that it is possible to reserve and purchase your burial plot or crypt in prearrangement. Indeed, making this decision while you are still alive may seem strange to some, but it's probably the best decision you could make for your loved ones. Here is why:

Reduce your loved ones' worries

At the time of death, decisions seem to be amplified by the emotional burden. Families feel a great sense of relief when the plot or crypt has already been chosen and paid for in advance.

Financial planning

Since some locations can be quite costly, buying your burial plot in advance allows you to spread payments over several months/years without interest. On the other hand, when death occurs, payment is required at the time of purchase.

Personal choice

For most people, choosing a burial site is important, as it respects their personal preferences.

You can schedule a free consultation with an advisor, either over the phone, in a branch or at home. He or she can also accompany you on a visit of the cemetery or our Laval Mausoleum.
